  1. In a classroom community, teachers can share ideas and share what worked best for each teacher in certain situations, which could be a help to another teacher who may have the same problem or concern.

This can also work for students. Teachers can share ideas on what may work best for certain students who may be having learning issues, resulting in positive progress and success.

Creating a warm climate involves greeting students or your class with a genuine smile, respecting their opinions and thoughts, and working in a positive manner to ensure student success.

A good classroom community is imperative toward student growth. If a scholar has negative interactions with peers and the teacher all day, their focus is not going to be on learning. But, if they feel supported in the classroom, being known and loved, they can accomplish more they they may have otherwise thought they were capable of.

Something this PD reminded me of is morning meetings. We have been spending time doing actives in the morning, but not many activities that invite the scholars to interact with one another. I am going to implement more frequent activities that help me get to know the scholars as well as them sharing about themselves to one another.

I have a classroom incentive that the scholars are working toward. The individual incentive program is helpful for that individual behavior management, but the classroom goal is also helpful as scholars feel a responsibility to not let their classmates down. When a scholar is doing the wrong thing, other scholars encourage that person to get back on track so that they can reach their class goals. I love that not only do the scholars get to work toward goals together, but that they get to receive the reward of their work together as well

A good classroom community is when the student feel safe in the classroom with the teacher and with the students in the classroom. Creating a classroom community is important as they see you as a real person instead of a person that does not care about them and not wanting to learn more about them. But when a teacher is showing information about themselves and is asking for more information on them they feel like the teacher does care and is willing to work with them.

One Takeaway from the PD is the goal setting. In my classroom I am incorporating something similar to this. I have the students have a lot of missing assignment and they can get something form the prize box if they turn in all assignments for the week but also are 70% on the assignment. So this has the student setting the goal of one turning in the assignment but also doing well.

How I am currently interacting with my students is by having talking to students about their likes and listening to conversations in the room. I would then chime in and say something that could cause the students to laugh or cause a deep dive into something we are not learning but they are curious on. One that comes to mind is when I mention that something was a a cruel and unusual punishment. so they student wanted to know more so we talked some about the topic before I had to get them back on track. Other ways I interact with them is sitting with them when they are doing work and carry a conversation about something that is not school related. By doing this I learned that one of my student do not have internet at home or that they really like to watch anime (this caused a 10 minute conversation). These conversation has given me ideas on what to get for a prize box that all students will like.

One thing that I would like to incorporate in the classroom is the shutouts as this could get the student to think positive about each other. It would also have some of my student who are shy feel better about them selves if they get completed for doing something they did not think twice about
